Coming Next Week...
Next week is one of the most exciting weeks out of the entire school year. The Adrian Blackhawk 2016-2017 Homecoming is the perfect time to show our Blackhawk Pride. This year’s theme is There’s No Place Like HOMEcoming from The Wizard of Oz. Monday we do not have school, but we do have the opportunity to get started on our homecoming floats. We will be able to begin working after school and the float site will close at 10:00 PM. Also on this night, we have a Junior High Volleyball A and B games at Clinton starting at 5:00. JV Football is also playing in a game on our home turf against the Archie Whirlwinds at 5:30.
Tuesday is the start of our spirit week's dress up days, starting with the theme Twister Tuesday. On this day we are to wear your wackiest, wildest clothing. At 5:30 our Junior High A and B Football teams will face Clinton at home. Starting at the same time, Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Volleyball play at Drexel. Back in Adrian, the float building will continue from after school until 10:00 pm or earlier.
Picture day also falls on the Wednesday of our homecoming week. Our dress up day on this day is themed Off to See the Wizard. You should show up to school dressed to impress the wizard. Wear your best, most picture-worthy clothing. Homecoming candidates, band members, and any STUCO members helping with the halftime ceremony will check into their first hour and get on the bus to go out to the complex. The bus will leave at 8:10 am. After school, the float site ends early at 6 pm or earlier.
Thursday’s theme day is titled Which Witch is Which. On this day students will dress alike with a friend and make us all ask the question, “Which witch is which?”. Our Lady Blackhawk Volleyball Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity play at home against Appleton City. Starting at 9:15 pm, the annual bonfire pep rally will begin. The float site will once again start working after school and close before the bonfire begins.
Homecoming day’s spirit day theme is Black and Gold. Students will go to their first hour and then proceed to their float site where they will finish off their float. Students should be back at the school at 12:30 for lunch and for the floats to be judged. The pep rally will begin at 1:00. The students will be dismissed for the parade at 1:30 and at 2:00 the parade will begin. The night festivities will begin at 7:00 with the Homecoming Football Game against Appleton City. King and Queen, float, and spirit stick winners will be announced at halftime. To end off Homecoming week, the dance will begin at 9:30 and end at 11:30 in the commons.
