Book Review

Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell, is about a girl, Cather, who goes off to college being separated for the first time from her twin, Wren. Cath is put into Pound hall and has no motivation to meet new people when she meets her roommate Reagan, she is mildly frightened.
Through her ups and downs of college life, Cath does make friends with her roommate, and her roommates best friend, Levi, and Nick from her Fiction-Writing class. Cather and Nick write stories together every Tuesday, and sometimes Thursday, at midnight when the library closed Levi was almost always there to walk her back to her dorm.
Things get bad as Cath and Wren’s father gets put in a hospital for behavior issues, Cath goes to her father, driven by Levi, while Wren stays and parties.Their father gets better again and Cath goes back to college. A few months later, Wren gets put in the hospital. Wren being in the hospital makes Cath forgive Wren and their friendship is back on for the first time in 6 months.

I give Fangirl 5/5 stars for its humor and its realness. Cather has a very big obsession with Simon Snow (very similar to Harry Potter) and she writes fanfics about Simon. Cather is a girl many people can relate to with her fascination with fantasy worlds.
