On Wednesday, October 7th, the fifth graders went on a field trip to Truman Lake. They have been learning about structures, cues, and organisms so this field trip was spot on with that topic. We asked Mrs. Smith to pick out a student with the most detailed drawings in their notebook. She easily picked Kailee Hooper. As you can see from the two pictures from her notebook above, she is great with detail and a natural at drawing. We then talked to her about science class. We asked her what her favorite part about the class was and she said experiments. When we asked her if she could be any animal, what would it be and why, she replied, “A white tiger because they can blend in, they're camouflaged, and most importantly because they're fuzzy.”
When the class returned from their field trip we asked them some more questions. They said their favorite part was going into the pond and catching fish. They learned a lot about glass shrimp which is pictured above. From a 1-5 stars they easily rated it a 5 star trip.
